If you want world-class hunting potential, Trophy Hunters Alberta Inc. can provide the territories and, hopefully, the opportunities. Trophy Hunters Alberta is Alberta's largest Outfitter, with 488 allocations, and leads the way in hunt variety, selection, timing and location. Of our 488 allocations, 43 are for elk, 53 are for moose, 145 are for whitetail, 235 are for mule deer and 12 are for non-baited bear. 107 of our big game allocations are for archery hunts. With this large number of non-resident permits, we are able to provide a high degree of flexibility in our hunt offerings.

In spite of our large number of allocations, we pride ourselves in operating

small, personalized camps never exceeding 6 hunters and usually consisting of only 2, 3 or 4 hunters.

In Alberta, "Big Game Allocations" are owned by "Outfitters" who provide outfitted and guided big game hunting opportunities to non-resident hunters. Non-residents are only allowed to hunt in Alberta on a specific allocation and must utilize licensed Outfitters.

The Province of Alberta instituted an excellent 'Game Management Program' in the 1990's that resulted in big game hunting becoming strictly controlled through an 'allocation' system for non-residents of Alberta and a 'draw' system for Alberta residents in many designated areas.

As a result of this practice, Alberta is now producing record book trophy big game every year. There are record book mule deer, moose, whitetail and elk throughout Alberta. In October 1999, during a filmed hunt with our company, Dan Parrott, famous host of the TV program "Outdoor Traditions", harvested a huge 378 6/8 SCI Western Canada moose with his muzzleloader. Brad Miller, along with guide Mark Parsons, harvested, what at that time was, a new SCI world record rifle shiras moose that scored 461 7/8 SCI and had a 61" spread. To view Brad's former SCI world record rifle shiras moose, click here. In 2005, a new SCI world record shiras moose was harvested, again in Alberta. Alberta holds the world records for non-typical mule deer, archery elk, big horn sheep and shiras moose and has a dominating presence in both the Boone & Crockett, Pope & Young, SCI and Buckmasters record books.

The new millenium has produced consecutive successful big game hunting seasons, with THA hunters having harvested many fine animals, including a massive 350+ class archery elk, numerous excellent moose, a 195 class archery whitetail, 4 whitetail (a 187, 178, 160 and a 5x5) and 3 mule deer (including a 175 class) all on one 4-man whitetail/mule deer combination rifle hunt, and some incredible mule deer. In 2001, our 69 hunters harvested 6 book animals. In 2002, we had record warm temperatures and still managed to harvest 2 more book animals. In 2003, we harvested 4 book animals and had our best mule deer results ever. The 2004 and 2005 seasons have each produced 4 more record book results by THA hunters. In 2006, THA hunters harvested another 4 book animals.

In our first archery deer combo hunt in 2003, a single hunter harvested both a 185 class mule deer and a 165 class whitetail. Our 3 archery elk hunters were all successful and each harvested a fine elk. Our 28 rifle mule deer hunters harvested 28 fine mule deer including muleys in the 180+ and 190+ class ranges. In 2004, our 38 rifle mule deer hunters averaged 160 class for the second year in a row! Again our rifle mule deer hunters achieved a 100% success, with some hunters reporting seeing in excess of 500 mule deer, including solid numbers of trophy bucks, during their respective 6-day hunts.

Our 2005 rifle mule deer season again produced 100% opportunity with evidence of even more, larger bucks, including several 185+ monsters.

Our 2006 rifle mule deer season also produced 100% harvest, while our archery mule deer hunters had a 75% harvest with many opportunities for all bow hunters. In 2006, THA won the coverted APOS Award for the "Largest Mule Deer - Archery on an Outfitted Hunt" among all 450 Alberta outfitters. This award is in addition to our previous recent APOS awards for "Largest Whitetail - Archery on an Outfitted Hunt" (2 time winner) and "Largest Moose - Archery on an Outfitted Hunt". Every year, THA hunters continue to harvest numerous 'Book' animals.

Last season, Tim Wells, TV Host, Video Producer and Author returned for his 9th straight archery hunt and harvested his 11th P&Y trophy with THA. Tim harvested his biggest mule deer yet, a 190+ monster that net scored 184 2/8 and won for THA the aforementioned prestigious honor of ‘Largest Mule Deer, Archery’ on an outfitted hunt. Tim described his experience with THA:  “THA is without a doubt the best outfitter I have ever encountered. I have hunted all over the world and THA is the only outfitter that I continually return to.”

Tim recently released another excellent video entitled "Relentless Pursuit". In case you haven't seen Lethal Flight, Tim's previous video, it was the best archery video we had ever seen until we viewed 'Relentless Pursuit'.

Tim's TV program, also called 'Relentless Pursuit' and featuring THA on most shows, is now the #1 rated hunting program on the 'Men's Channel' on the 'Dish Network'. We are proud to be associated with Tim and appreciate that someone of Tim's caliber, who can hunt anywhere he desires, continues to choose THA every year for one, or more, of his televised hunts.

As well, we were pleased that Al Kuntz of Al’s Worldwide Adventures joined us for a mule deer hunt. Al has 4 official world records to his credit and is a most discriminating hunter. He has killed many mule deer but never anything scoring 170 B&C or larger. On the 2nd morning of his 6-day hunt, Al nailed his largest muley ever, a 175 class trophy. After his hunt, Al’s comments were: "My mule deer hunt was excellent value and a true team effort. The outfitter, guides, ranch family and community all played a part in my excellent experience with THA. I observed 100s of mule deer daily with 25 to 40 bucks per day. I came as a client and left as a friend and part of the family." Al also made some wonderful comments about THA in his newsletter to his 30,000+ client base. Additional text of Al’s comments are further down in this newsletter.

We also were privileged to have Michael Cooley, Founder, President and CEO of the Sportsman Channel join us in 2006. Mike had never hunted mule deer, however, he came with THA to see lots of mule deer and, hopefully, produce a TV show about mule deer hunting with THA in Alberta. Mike brought along his top cameraman and got more than he bargained for. On the 3rd morning of his 6-day hunt, Mike harvested a 176 5/8 class mule deer and is now probably jaded for life. Mike was on the same hunt as Al Kuntz and both muley kills were on video. Watch for a TV program on these two successful hunters on the Sportsman Channel. Although he can hunt anywhere he desires, Mike is returning to THA in 2007 to again hunt and film mule deer hunting with THA.

In addition to Mike Cooley’s program on his THA mule deer hunt on the Sportsman Channel, watch for the ongoing TV special on the awesome 378 6/8 SCI muzzleloader moose killed on a filmed hunt with THA by well known TV host Dan Parrott. Also catch the two ongoing TV specials of the two double kills of both mule deer (including a 176 class) and whitetail (including a 145 class) on a 3 1/2 day hunt by Ron Koch and Wayne Brensinger, co-hosts of the TV program 'Outdoor Buddies Adventures'. And don't forget the former world record rifle shiras moose killed by Brad Miller that scored 461 7/8 SCI and had a spread of 61 inches!

In 2007, we already have Bill Miller, Executive Director of the North Amerca Hunting Club, joining THA on a SW Alberta foothills rifle mule deer hunt that will be one of 16 big game hunting shows that will be produced by the North America Media Group for their annual TV shows. We also hosted Mark Kayser, another member of the NAHC field staff on an archery whitetail/mule deer combination hunt in September, 2007 that will be an additional production of the 16 NAHC big game TV shows.

Other recent highlights include a 205 5/8 non-typical archery whitetail from the Calgary Bow Zone, a "cranker" 340+ P&Y 6x6 elk, a 189+ whitetail, a 204 point mule deer and many 180+ mule deer. In a normal year, about 20% of our mule deer score 165 points or higher.

In 2003, one of our guides bow killed an early season 224 class mule deer which has been officially recognized as the new Alberta archery record muley. As we like to say, "If we can get them with a bow, then we should certainly be able to get them with a rifle".

We anticipate that hunters should see a variety of big game, and while we cannot guarantee a kill, we can guarantee 100% effort and perhaps the hunting experience of a lifetime with the potential for world-class results. We'll help you spot the game - you decide whether it meets your criteria, and if so, the hunt will be on, be it calling, spot and stalk, working the bush, ground blind hunting behind camo or in a simulated hay bale, tree stand hunting or some combination of these proven techniques. We'll call the elk and moose in for these types of hunts, while we'll push and/or "talk" to the deer, as required, for the whitetail and mule deer hunts.

As stated elsewhere in this Website, it is important that we maintain proper perspective in our individual quests for that true trophy. One deer in every 750 killed in Alberta makes the "book", versus about one per million in North America. Only two per cent of the elk killed in North America are 6-pointers. Check the Boone & Crocket book to see how many mule deer are listed that have a spread greater than 32 inches.

We suggest to our hunting guests that, as a minimum, we hope to be able to show them 125 class whitetail and 140 class mule deer on our deer hunts. On our moose hunts, we suggest that our guests should hope to see 30" to 45" moose, and on our elk hunts we suggest that our hunters should hope to see 230 class to 300 class elk. We also advise prospective hunters of the potential for not harvesting on some hunts. We want you to harvest that big animal as much as you do.Our hunting guests appreciate our honesty and are rarely disappointed! Our philosophy is to under-promise and over-achieve.

In summary, we all want to harvest a 'book' animal, however, in the sport of hunting, this just doesn't happen very often. Booking your next hunt with a quality outfitter such as Trophy Hunters Alberta, however, certainly improves your odds.

Our mandate is to make every effort to ensure that our hunters have an enjoyable trip and a memorable hunting experience, while at the same time hopefully providing an opportunity to "bag the big one".

We want you to harvest that big animal as much as you do, and booking your next hunt with a quality outfitter such as Trophy Hunters Alberta certainly improves your odds. In 2001, our 71 hunters harvested 6 book animals which, in spite of the extremely dry conditions and above normal temperatures, was our best year ever. In 2002, our hunters harvested 2 book animals. In 2003, our hunters harvested 4 book animals. Both 2004 and 2005 have produced similar results with 4 book animals per year. In 2006, THA hunters again harvested 4 book animals and won the APOS Award for 'Largest Mule Deer on an Outfitted Hunt' in all of Alberta.
